Penn and Teller

Erica and Fuzzy and friends got to go to Vegas this past weekend. While they were there, they went to a Penn and Teller show. And as Erica said, OF COURSE they called her up on stage! While she was blindfolded, they were "throwing" knives at her, and then she was to "throw" a knife at Penn. Needless to say, no knives were really thrown and she had a very fun time being part of the show. And Teller actually talked to her!!! After the show, there was a meet and greet and they were glad to pose for pictures with Erica and Fuzzy. So, this particular event didn't "stay in Vegas", it is here for all of the world to see!!!

Monday night

It is so cold. Not Chicago cold, but it is still cold. I have been in cleaning mode, throwing away tons of magazines (there are still tons left, but I have to start somewhere!), I changed 8 litter boxes this afternoon, and then David came home and we went to the coffee shop late and had a wonderful cup of decaf with half of a bagel while we visited with Daniel and Josh. That place is just therapeutic, you know? I have even become accustomed to the jazz playing in the background. And I don't really like jazz!!!
Tomorrow I have to take Norma back to the doctor, then run a few more errands with her (she still can't drive) and then maybe, MAYBE, I can cash in my gift certificate for a facial that my wonderful children got me for my birthday. It would be quite relaxing, and I am in need of relaxing, that's for sure. If not tomorrow, then hopefully I can get there Wednesday. It may sleet Wednesday, however. If it sleets, the whole city will shut down!!!! One of the biggest ice storms that Vicksburg has ever had started on my 35th birthday, so this is the time of year that that stuff happens. As opposed to August, when it has never sleeted.
So, have a great Tuesday. By the way, I love carousel horses. I really want my own personal carousel horse some day.

I do have this at my house, however.

I have yet to have this happen at my house, but once they get the idea........

Almost like twins!

Friday at last!

Well, it is finally Friday. What a week this has been! First off, Norma went to the doctor this morning and he was very pleased with her recovery from yesterday's cataract surgery. I took my mother to the doctor and she is fine. While she was at the doctor's office, Linda and I went and had a very nice lunch at Cracker Barrel. David got home safely. We both have talked to Erica in Las Vegas and she is having a good time. Everyone else is, too, but she is the only one we talked to!!!! So, all in all, a fairly decent day, thank goodness.
Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.
And get a chuckle from this cute cat picture that was sent to me.

Today, January 25

Well, this is just a quick post. Norma had cataract surgery on one eye today. I took her to the eye doctor Tuesday afternoon and could not believe it when I heard her and the doc talking about getting to the hospital by 10 on Thursday for the surgery! He had had a cancellation so it was set up and today after I took David to chemo, I picked her up and took her to the hospital. Now, hospitals should just have a sign on the front that says "hurry up and wait" because that is what we did. I finally had to leave at 12:45 to go get David and they STILL had not come for her. I got back to her room a little before 3 and they had just brought her back in! It seems that they didn't even get to her until almost 2 o'clock!!! So, they left her this survey to fill out about her experience. Everything went well, EXCEPT FOR THE TIME!!!! But, she was going to come stay with us, but she decided to stay at home and a friend is taking her to the doctor tomorrow because I have to take my mother to the doctor. And David just found out he has to go to Golden Moon tomorrow (almost three hours away) and I would go with him, but I guess I need to stay in town because of the mothers. We'll just see how everything works out.
Today, though, in the midst of this running from one medical facility to the next, I found out some devastating news. One of the men that David had been having chemo with, and who we had talked to many times, and who I thought was doing well, died yesterday. They didn't tell David at the clinic, we saw it in the paper. He called and asked about it and apparently Milton just went downhill fast in the last three weeks. He went in to treatment on Monday, and they contacted hospice but he died yesterday at home. And that is what scares me so much, that this big man was taken down that fast. I guess it goes without saying that this next CT scan (on Feb. 8) has me terrified. Milton was only 46 and was a very very fine man. He will be missed.
So, on that note, and since my eyes are all watery now, I am going to collapse in the bed.
Later. And that precious kitty is one of my grandcats, Mokey.

Colts go to the Super Bowl

What a game!!! Here is a picture of Peyton Manning discussing his winning ways and how he will incorporate them into the Super Bowl on February 4.

Bears win spot in Super Bowl

Two Chicago Bears celebrating their win over the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field.

In honor of the Saints/Bears game

Okay, Erica and Fuzzy live in Chicago. BUT, they went to a Saints game in New Orleans in early December. So, they are conflicted. But I'm not, so here are the two of them with their big foam fingers at that Saints game.
GO SAINTS!!! My birthday is on Super Bowl Sunday, so that would be really neat to have the Saints playing!!! So, again, GO SAINTS!!!!!

Saturday afternoon at the coffee shop

Well, we don't have any money, didn't want to stay home, I didn't feel great. Where do we go? THE COFFEE SHOP, WHERE ELSE?!?!? We got there a little before 1 this afternoon and left a little before 5 after eating bagels, drinking coffee and cokes, and having some really good visits with friends. It was fabulous! There were not too many people in there when we got there, but the place became packed as the afternoon wore on. Daniel was very busy, and only one employee was there (Josh went home sick. This crap is really getting around!). Everyone seemed very happy, though, and although we didn't plan to stay all afternoon, it really helped both of us feel a lot better. And when I told one guy that my birthday was in two weeks, he asked my name and then as we got up to go, he said that he probably wouldn't see me within the two weeks, so in his booming voice (he plays Santa Claus), he sang Happy Birthday to me, and then everyone clapped! I had to explain that it was in two weeks, but thanked everyone. The funny thing was, I was extremely pale when we went in there, but boy did I turn red after that birthday song!!! But it was a very nice afternoon and here it is, early evening, and I am in my flannel pjs ready to watch a movie and eat some pizza!!!
And tomorrow will be an afternoon and evening of football games. GO SAINTS!!!!
It is cloudy and supposed to rain, absolutely perfect watching football weather!
Have a great rest of the weekend!!! Oh, and this is just a random dog picture, but it is kind of Gooberish looking, don't you think?

Too cold for Mississippi!

It is so blasted cold today! It has been sleeting, for heaven's sake! And me? I have been so sick in the bed and it is really getting to me, I tell ya. I am sneezing my head off and on top of that, my stomach had to get in on it!! I am worried that David will catch what I have got, and he certainly does NOT need to do that!!
So, that is all I have in me today!! I take that back - I am pretty sure I have a few dozen more sneezes in me!!!!
Stay warm and healthy!!!

It is friggin' cold and I have a friggin' cold! And I have to go pay my house note by 1 p.m. Yuck.
Have a great day!!!!

In the interest of full disclosure....

I mentioned in an earlier post that it was Jean's birthday. As a present to her, I am posting a picture of her son, Jeremy. And, in the full disclosure bit, to show everyone how a nice, unassuming woman, can raise a son up to be an elf.

Happy Birthday, Jean!

Today is Jean B.'s birthday! She will be here in a few weeks for my birthday (Feb.4)so be assured, cake and ice cream WILL BE EATEN!!!!
Have a great day, Jean!!!!

Impress these apes

Okay, everyone. Go to and see Erica's first performance in Impress These Apes. It is on YouTube and it is pretty freakin' funny. Although, I must explain that I wasn't really naked in bed with Lurch, it just looked that way!!! Anyway, it is a very cute song that she sings, "Twenty three things about Erica Reid" and is quite informative! So, enjoy!!!

Johnny Knight bride series

Johnny Knight, a photographer in Chicago, has a series in which everybody is a bride in a bride dress. There is even a 2007 calendar featuring these bride photos. This photo, however, was taken a few months ago, featuring, and this shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone, Erica, as the dead bride.(I really hate typing those two words together!!) It was very early, very cold, but she was very happy to be asked to do this. J.K. is the photographer who took her headshots, which were fabulous, so they had become pretty good friends by the time this photo took place.
Go to his website to see more of his photos.

Yet another pic from Cape May!

Here is a picture of David on Christmas morning after I had discovered the big red cat picture!! And yes, he needed a sleeve!!!

The fifth day of 2007

This is where I would have LIKED to have spent this afternoon. Instead, we spent it waiting for a doctor for about four hours at St. Dominic Hospital. David is fine, but we had something that needed to be checked out. He is now on antibiotics and we go back next Friday. At least I have warning, because I had none today. He would have made just as much sense to me if he had said that one of the dogs had grown another head and two extra tails!!! I had been kept in the dark about this new development, probably another side effect from the new chemo. My hope is that the cancer is feeling the wrath from Erbitux and will be vacating the premises soon.
Okay. It is late and I am so exhausted.
